Mavis Staples

This is Mavis Staples about 5 minutes before she went on stage last night at The Philharmonic Hall. And whilst she'd literally just got off a flight that was delayed 3 hours and the show was going on slightly late, she still wanted to know our names and had a chat with us and asked how we were doing and then introduced her sister Yvonne.  And then we went out front and saw the show which was incredible and one of those rare occasions that you feel like your in the presence of a legend. She sang songs from her recent album 'We'll Never Turn Back' as well as some of the classic Staple Singers songs including I'll Take You There, The Weight, Respect Yourself and For What It's Worth!

Who are you?

I went to Minsk with a couple of bands in April 1991 and this is one of them and I don't know their name.  Anyone got any ideas or recognise any faces?

Festival of Comedy

I've just been working on an edit for my book and came across this photograph of the Pier Head at the time of the Festival Of Comedy in the early 90's!  I was down there to go on a mystery trip which ended up being a ferry crossing and then a coach  onto New Brighton to see The Farm play in the indoor fair.
