This is the latest photograph to be uploaded to my Facebook archive pages and it was taken at the launch of a short lived club at Masque called Eden.  Guess he'd been drumming for an hour or two!

Altiplano

For those of you looking for something to do in Liverpool tonight then you might want to consider Antiplano at NOVAS with the Idjut Boys and Kelvin Andrews.   I did some photographs at the venue and it's amazing aside from the fact that all those playing are class acts!  This is Kelvin playing years ago (he hasn't really changed though) at Golden in Manchester! There's also a pre club party at Peacock on Seel Street.

Amnesia

I'm off to Manchester for the weekend to photograph a festival promoting the real culture of the Balearic Islands which reminds me that I'd heard a few years ago that the Spanish authorities wanted rid of the rave/party culture that the islands have become known for and were looking to promote the older traditions of the area. It's been a good few years coming but this major festival has already visited Berlin and is on it's way to Paris so maybe Ibiza itself is going to be the new ibiza.

Here's some photographs of the current imported culture that the island is more known for and these were taken at Cream's night in Amnesia.

Back To The Old Pool

This photograph from a Back To The Old Pool rave/club night at the O2 Academy (when it was Carling) features in today's Times alongside a feature on 'mature ravers'. In the front is Mick Pluto, one of Liverpool's greatest DJ's who still plays at old school nights.

Club Exposure

And you'd never guess why it got it's name!  I recently got an email from a Dutch photographer called Tom Stappers who'd seen one of my photographs from this club in Den Haag that I covered in the early 90's as part of a weekend spent with French DJ Laurent Garnier.  The club appears to have been one of his own projects and his photographs from the night are great and I'd well recommend checking out his site if you're in anyway interested in club or street photography.  Some of his site is still being sorted out but there's some great work in there if you've got the patience for clunky websites!

When I used to do a lot of club photography I shot 99% of it on colour and there was only a couple of times when I shot black & white which is the way that Tom Stappers shot the place so the pics actually look quite similar.  One of these images features in Pop Cultured.

Pop Cultured

I've just been looking through my archive to pick out some last minute extras for the Pop Cultured exhibition and book launch and I came across this from this year's Creamfields.  It's not actually going in but it made me laugh so I though I'd put it online.  Not all of the work in the exhibition is in the book but all of it is available to buy direct from Microzine all framed up and ready to hang.  For any other print requests , please email me.

Garlands

More archive stuff that may or may not appear in the forthcoming book and exhibitions. But I'm back out and about today so I should have some new and up to date photos by tomorrow! And then on Saturday it's The Pale Fountains and the first of their two 20th Anniversary gigs!
