Last night saw the first performance of the new season of concerts by The Liverpool Phil with Vasily and the band being joined by pianist Simon Trpceski. The start of the season also brought with it the great news, for both the orchestra and the city itself, that Vasily has signed a contract to stay with The Phil until 2015 and is now known as Chief Conductor. On stage last night he said that the decision had been made because Liverpool is his home before taking the band through a concert played to a house packed to the rafters with the audience even occupying all of the choir stalls!
