I'd just like to say a 'sort of' thank you to the lovely people at Clash Magazine who've just done a great full page feature on my forthcoming book. It's all very complimentary with a nice big photo of Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller down at The White room in the mid 90's and I was well chuffed to see the size of the 'big up' that they'd given me. However, with the beginning of the book being the point where I left a crap local band mid gig (I was in them for 5 minutes and it was our first gig), I found it the funniest thing ever to see Clash's writing stating 'rock Star turned photographer Mark McNulty'!!! If only they'd ever heard that 20 minutes of Eat My Dog. Of course the mention is very much appreciated and the issue also includes more of my work across the Portishead feature and in the 20 years of acid house special section! Oh and by the way, Je Suis Un Rock Star was a dreadful record released by Bill Wyman in 1981 which, I've got to admit, that as a misguided 15 year old I actually bought!
Other news regards Pop Cultured (the book) is that it's nearly at the printers, that it's now going to be hardback and that I'll be shortly announcing a gig at Carling Academy that forms part of their On Song Festival that's running throughout September. The festival includes loads of gigs as well as a day when people interested in working in the environment of a live venue, get to come along to an open day to find out more. There's also a photo competition with the winner getting to come along and have a go in the pit for a major gig at the end of the month. Check the Carling Academy site for more details. So, all in all, September is looking a bit busy.
More book news and lots of smiley Creamfields photos very soon!
