New Years honours list!

This is Dita Jane who, especially over the last few weeks, has been a great help in assisting on shoots including recent commissions for Ethel Austin and Radio City as well as the recent portraits taken at the Carling Academy of The Zutons, Candie Payne etc She is primarily into music based work and has done quite a few events at Carling when I haven't been able to manage it. And she's good so check out her work at her My Space site.

Dita was also a great help with this years Eighthundred project, even though she wasn't one of the photographers working on it. And part of the great thing about producing the Eighthundred project was that a group of photographers got to talk to each other, put any rivalries aside, and work collectively towards a single goal. The project has then led on to other things. The Met To Tate website images were produced by myself, Peter Carr and Helen Palmer and feature here. The next project to come off the back of it is the book project I mentioned yesterday (0151 366 2008) and that has myself involved along with Peter Carr and Matt Wardle. Another photographer who has assisted me many times over the last few years, and was also one of the Eighthundred photographers, is Imke Oppenkamp. As well as working as an in house photographer for a local design agency, Imke is also now branching out on her own and her work will be on her website which will be fully online very soon and no doubt featuring some amazing still life work. And thanks to the other photographers who worked on Eighthundred too - David Colbran, Benjamin Ball and Matt Ford.

OK, that's the nice bit out of the way. I've got to give a big no thanks to the photographers who are simply out to undercut and therefore undervalue the profession, the one who wrote a blog slating my work and the one who went into Carling under my name the other week! I think they might know me after working there for 4 years so they were lucky that there was a new girl on the door and they got away with it that time.

2008's gonna be a big year for Liverpool with shed loads to see, do and photograph. So let's get out there, get on with it and play fair!

Happy New Year.

Another Rock'n'Roll Christmas

The main part of the gig was Suzukis, The Rascals and then The Zutons with a new set of vocalists being brought on for the encores. First up was Miles from The Rascals to do a cover of Motorhead's Ace Of Spades and then it was Candie Payne to do a couple of songs. The highlight came up next when Aby Harding came back on and, backed by Candie, did the most amazing version of Ike & Tina's Proud Mary. They'd also managed to get changed and had matching dresses on and it all got a bit swinging 60's, and even more so when Howie Payne came on stage to finish the night off with a great version of the R+R classic Slippin'n'Slidin'!

The Tigerpicks

I've mostly avoided the computer over Christmas but I'm back and expect a fair few postings over the next few days. I'm away from January 5th for 5 or 6 days but before then I'll be starting work on a year long book project which is provisionally called 0151 366 2008 and involves a team of photographers who will be documenting life in the Capital Of Culture and the point is to collectively have images from every single day in 2008! I'll have more details about the book and it's website very soon.

Meanwhile, here is one of the final images which will form part of my Capital Of Pop Culture book and exhibition which launches at the end of May. During the soundchecks for the Deltasonic Christmas Party, I did a series of portraits of most of the performers who played the event. Here's The Tigerpicks.

Deltasonic Christmas Party

Last night was my last gig of the year and a great way to end it all with the Deltasonic Christmas Party featuring Suzukis, The Rascals, Tigerpicks, A Weird Pair and The Zutons with special guests. Here's The Zutons' Aby Harding and I'll be posting more images and details over the holiday!

Cansei de Ser Sexy

Photographed CSS last night at Carling and it was all a bit Christmas themed. Here's a shot of the audience as the band came on.

Herbert

Tonight I'm working on a set of portraits for Liverpool.com magazine, which will be out in January, and I've also done a fashion shoot for the magazine. This is a shot I did for the current edition of the magazine and it features Liverpool celebrity hairdresser Herbert and his special edition Cartier Lincoln!

Emergency

Saw Shack support The Coral on Friday and they did 'Emergency' from their fist album Zilch. One for the obsessed really 'cos I don't ever recall them doing anything from the first album. Most impressed.

iPhone camera and phone blog test!

This was the first photograph I took with the iPhone and this blog has
been sent direct from the phone itself. If it works then great but I
promise not to blog from pubs, Christmas parties etc..
