New Years honours list!
This is Dita Jane who, especially over the last few weeks, has been a great help in assisting on shoots including recent commissions for Ethel Austin and Radio City as well as the recent portraits taken at the Carling Academy of The Zutons, Candie Payne etc She is primarily into music based work and has done quite a few events at Carling when I haven't been able to manage it. And she's good so check out her work at her My Space site.
Dita was also a great help with this years Eighthundred project, even though she wasn't one of the photographers working on it. And part of the great thing about producing the Eighthundred project was that a group of photographers got to talk to each other, put any rivalries aside, and work collectively towards a single goal. The project has then led on to other things. The Met To Tate website images were produced by myself, Peter Carr and Helen Palmer and feature here. The next project to come off the back of it is the book project I mentioned yesterday (0151 366 2008) and that has myself involved along with Peter Carr and Matt Wardle. Another photographer who has assisted me many times over the last few years, and was also one of the Eighthundred photographers, is Imke Oppenkamp. As well as working as an in house photographer for a local design agency, Imke is also now branching out on her own and her work will be on her website which will be fully online very soon and no doubt featuring some amazing still life work. And thanks to the other photographers who worked on Eighthundred too - David Colbran, Benjamin Ball and Matt Ford.
OK, that's the nice bit out of the way. I've got to give a big no thanks to the photographers who are simply out to undercut and therefore undervalue the profession, the one who wrote a blog slating my work and the one who went into Carling under my name the other week! I think they might know me after working there for 4 years so they were lucky that there was a new girl on the door and they got away with it that time.
2008's gonna be a big year for Liverpool with shed loads to see, do and photograph. So let's get out there, get on with it and play fair!
Happy New Year.
